In molti paesi orientali e vicino orientali è uso portare al collo, dei pendenti-custodia di varie forme, che servono da protezione. Questi oggetti, infatti, possono contenere delle preghiere o formule magiche (
sure del Corano nei paesi islamici e
mantra e
yantra in India e paesi limitrofi), oppure dei piccoli talismani o amuleti (della differenza fra i due ne parlerò in post futuri), che servono per scacciare il maligno o con funzione propiziatoria.
Io ho provato a riprodurre la forma dello
Tcherot (
o Tscherot) utilizzato dai popolazioni del deserto marocchino, algerino, nigeriano: i
Tuareg. Questi popoli lo utilizzano in quanto nel deserto si pensa che vivano i
jiin, gli spiriti cattivi (o fantasmi), quindi loro indossando questo amuleto pensano di poter scacciare eventuali presenze o il malocchio. Viene anche chiamato Gri Gri amulet
.
In many eastern and near eastern countries the population wears around
the neck, a pendant-case on various form, which serve as protection.
This objects, infact, may contain prayer or a magic formula (Suras of
the Qur'an in Islamic countries and mantra or yantra in India
neighbouring country) or small talisman or amulet (about the difference
between the two i'll talk about in future posts), which serve to ward
off evil eye or just to be propitiatory.
I tried to reproduce
the shape of Tcherot (or Tscherot) used by population of the Maroccoan,
algerian and nigerian desert: the Tuareg. These people use this because
they think in the desert lives the jiin, evil spirits (or ghosts),
wearing this amulet they think they can chase away any presence or evil
eye. It is also called Gri Gri.
Questi amuleti sono per lo più sono fatti di argento, rame o ottone, cuoio. Vengono portati al collo con dei lacci di pelle\cuoio, o stoffa, oppure vengono fissati alle vesti o al
tagelmoust, il velo blu che gli uomini portano in testa. Vengono indossati prevalentemente dagli uomini, ma anche le donne lo possono portare come ornamento della pettinatura. Le mamme lo regalano alle proprie figlie di 17 anni che entrano nella fase matura della loro vita, per augurare salute e fertilità. Spesso queste scatoline recano incise sopra delle croci o altri motivi propiziatori. La forma ricorda quella del Corano.
These amulets are made in silver, copper, brass or leather. They are put
on the neck with leather straps or fabric, or they are attacched on the
clothing or on tagelmoust, the blue veil is worn by men on the head. The
Tcherot are worn mainly by man, but the women can wear it as a hair
ornament. The mothers give it to their daughters at the age of 17 , when
the girls are entering in mature phase of their life, to whish health
and fertility. Often these boxes are imprinted on the crosses or other
auspicious motifs. The shape reminds of the Qur'an.
